A Maryland man is accused of restraining a 15-year-old girl inside of a home and repeatedly stabbing her before she escaped, according to police.
Abubakarr Barrie allegedly offered a ride to the teen before taking her to a Baltimore home where he forced her inside and attacked her on Thursday, October 22, Baltimore police said, according to ABC affiliate WMAR-TV. The girl reportedly believed he was an unlicensed taxi driver.
Officers called to a stabbing near the 3800 block of Belle Avenue on Thursday evening found first responders treating the teen, according to a police statement provided to CBS News.
"The victim did in fact advise she escaped from a basement in the area and that she was stabbed by an unknown male," the statement reportedly said.

Barrie, 23, was identified as the suspect and arrested on Saturday, October 24, within a half mile of where police encountered the girl, CBS News reported.
He’s charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, carrying a dangerous weapon with intent to injure, kidnapping, false imprisonment and theft of $100 to under $1,500, court records show.
Barrie is represented by a public defender, whose name wasn’t immediately listed in court records.
The 15-year-old girl told police that she fought against Barrie with a fire extinguisher after he allegedly confined her in the home and told her not to scream, according to charging documents obtained by WMAR-TV.
After fleeing the home, the teen knocked on nearby doors before one resident let her call her mother and 911 using their phone, per the TV station. She was ultimately treated at Sinai Hospital.

Authorities reportedly used information tied to a Cash App account to find Barrie. They also discovered a vehicle registered to him that matched a vehicle the 15-year-old had described to investigators, according to WMAR-TV.
According to the charging documents, the girl had been missing her iPhone 14, which she traced to Barrie’s home address.
Local residents who spoke with CBS News expressed their shock in the wake of the stabbing.
"You can ask my neighbors on the block, and they will tell you this block is very, very quiet. We don't have that," one resident, Shelly Gaskins, told the news outlet.
Following his arrest, Barrie was ordered to be held without bond, records show.
Records indicated a hearing for his bail/bond review on Monday, October 26, had been reset.
