The latest WNBA Finals have been a back-and-forth affair. Several UConn alumni on the Golden State Valkyries are looking to win a ring. Kiah Stokes' recent performance helped their cause.

After the Dream beat the Valkyries 97-71 on Wednesday, Golden State looked to even the series. On Saturday, the team beat Atlanta, 67-62. The Valkyries had a wide edge early and limited Angel Reese to eight points while forcing six turnovers.

A key contributor was Stokes. Stokes had 16 rebounds in 31 minutes. She also had three blocks. The latter stat added to her historic total of 14.

With those three blocks, Stokes passed Brittney Griner (2014) and Sylvia Fowles (2017) for the most blocks in a single WNBA Finals series. She is also the first player in Finals history with 3+ blocks in four consecutive games.

"I just hang my head on defense. I like to block shots," Stokes said via WOWK 13 News .

Stokes can add more blocks to the record when Golden State returns to the Chase Center on Monday for Game 5.

Stokes won three straight national championships with UConn. The 2015 AAC Defensive Player of the Year averaged 4.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per game. She ended her career as the current leader in blocks (147) by a Huskie.

Picked 11th by the Liberty in the 2015 WNBA Draft, Stokes is a three-time WNBA and a two-time EuroLeague champion. She signed with the Valkyries in April and averaged 3.6 points, 1.3 assists, and 5.8 rebounds per game during the regular season.
